MATCH REPORT

BROMLEY V DULWICH 4TH SEPTEMBER 2023

Today under blazing sunshine Bromley played a friendly GC match against Dulwich. Our opponents could only muster 4 players and so Valerie had to find two more Bromley players to make up their 6-person team - stepping up to the plate were Alan and Alistair at the last minute.

Lunch saw us ahead by three games to two. However, a late comeback by Dulwich saw them draw level with one game to play.

At 4 games each the result of the match rested on Michael and Wendy in the last doubles. At 0-4 hoops down things looked bleak, but a series of great shots levelled the score at 6-6. In an exciting finish, Michael secured the golden hoop to clinch the match for the home team.

As always, the games were played in great spirit with a very friendly visiting team.

Many thanks to Valerie for both sorting out the teams (both sides!) and providing a sumptuous lunch which concluded with a gorgeous sherry trifle. Thanks also to Wendy who made a lovely coffee and walnut gateau and jam tarts.

Thanks to Alan and Alistair for supporting Dulwich and playing most competitive games for the opponents; no quarter given to Bromley.
